What is the remote hiring process?
When remote hiring, there will never be any face to face, in person meeting which could be quite challenging. The 5 step process she uses; questionnaire, skill test, video, interviews, reference checks allows Remotivate to have an insightful view of a person. The clearer the expectations are, the clearer it is if that employee has succeeded or failed. It takes extra effort when teaching someone remotely but it can be done by setting out EXACTLY what it is the employee needs to do. However, an advantage of hiring from all around the world is that you will find a lot more experienced people at a much lower cost. So, if you don’t have enough time to constantly check in and provide feedback, you can find someone who has the right experience.
What tools are needed to make this work for employers?
Starting off in remote hiring, Slack, for example, is a great tool to use. Slack uses channels so you can have multiple different topics. This allows conversations about different projects to become easier and more organised. There are other tools that Anna explains which an employer can use to create and assign tasks for employees.
